Description

It is one thing to shoot accurately when conditions are good, but another altogether to perform under stress and when conditions are difficult. The real world application of marksmanship training means a mastery of the basics and demonstration of those skills in increasingly challenging conditions and situations. Building on the skills Long-range Precision 1 course, Long-range Precision 2 will challenge you to maintain accuracy while shooting at increasing distances, smaller targets, greater angles, in unconventional positions, moving targets, and under stress. Our goal is that you walk away from this course with all the knowledge and confidence you need to perform well in almost any scenario.

Duration

This course held over a consecutive 3-day period from 0800 to 1700 hours each day (e.g. full days, Friday through Sunday). If you are coming in from out of the area, see our FAQs page for more information on travel and lodging arrangements.

Prerequisites

For Long-range Precision 2, we’d like you to have completed Long-range Precision 1 or a comparable course from another training company (let us know which one; we’ll identify eligibility on a case-by-case basis).

What you need to bring

Rifle: High power bolt action rifle (6mm – 30 cal) or accurized semi-auto, sling and bipod. 5.56 SPR-style rifle is acceptable. Rental guns are available for an additional charge.
Quality tactical scope with mildot or range estimation reticle and externally adjustable turrets (e.g. Nightforce ATCAR or NXS, Athlon, Vortex, Leupold Mk4, Nikon Tactical, Swarovski, Zeiss, SWFA, etc.).
Your scope must have externally adjustable turrets in order for you to participate in this class. (Click here to learn more about externally adjusted scope turrets on our blog article.)
Bring your owner’s manual.
Minimum 75 rounds of match-grade ammunition per day. (77 gr strongly recommended for 5.56 SPRs)
Cleaning kit
Rugged, comfortable clothing, suitable for all weather conditions. We will shoot in any and all weather.
Small “go bag” or ruck sack that will be with you at all times. Your bag should have binoculars, water, snacks, elbow pads, knee pads, and ammo for the task.
A shooting or exercise mat; anything that can be rolled up and moved with you.
Ear & eye protection, sunscreen, and a brimmed hat (like a boonie).
Lunch, snack food, and water.
A small calculator.
Note-taking material, including notepad, pencil, and Sharpie.
Optional items: iPad or smartphone, belt magazine carriers; rifle cover (shemagh or towel); range finder; Camelback.
The Long-range Precision 2 class can be somewhat physically demanding, depending on how much field work we do. We move around on rough terrain and haul our gear short distances. The most physically challenging aspects of the experience tend to come from the weather, so please be prepared for Colorado’s rapidly changing conditions.
